This bursary scheme is designed to enable professionals to
access educational initiatives that will further strengthen and
improve the care and support they give to men (and their families),
affected by prostate cancer and prostate diseases.
Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) have a limited number of bursaries
available for this scheme and they are intended to cover the cost
of course/module/conference/study day fees etc only. PCUK will not
cover associated costs such as books, travel or other expenses at
The applicant must currently be employed (full or part time) as
a registered health professional or allied health professional
(AHP) in the UK and provide reasonable evidence of this if their
application is successful.
The applicant must be registered with the General Medical
Council (GMC), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Nursing
and Midwifery Council (NMC) or other appropriate regulatory body,
and provide details of this as specified in the application
The applicant will currently work with men (and/or their
families) who have prostate cancer/disease, as a core requirement
of their current employment.
The applicant must demonstrate an on-going professional
commitment to the care of men with prostate cancer/disease. This
will be assessed by PCUK based on the information the applicant
provides in their application form.
PCUK will consider bursary applications for educational
initiatives up to six months prior to the start date of the
particular course or event (however, applications must be submitted
at least 2 months before the start date).
The applicant must agree to commit to, and engage with, the
requirements and programme of the organisation/institution hosting
the educational initiative, for example adhering to rules and
regulations regarding attendance, participation and code of
The applicant must provide the Education Team at PCUK with a
copy of their certificate of attendance or similar to confirm they
attended the course, within the timeframes outlined in their
acceptance letter. Details on how to send this information to the
Education Team will be provided via email to each successful
If the applicant wishes to withdraw from the educational
initiative, defer, or is not meeting the necessary course
requirements, they must notify the Education Team at PCUK
immediately. PCUK will engage in discussions with the applicant to
discuss the specific circumstances in order to arrive at a workable
solution. Applicants in this situation, who are already in receipt
of the bursary, may be required to return the bursary in its
entirety to PCUK.
The applicant agrees to completing a short questionnaire or
interview conducted by the Education Team (or, a partner of) at
PCUK to evaluate the bursary scheme, within the timeframes outlined
in their acceptance letter.
If successful, the applicant agrees to PCUK publicising their
receipt of a bursary from the charity on the PCUK
Prostate Cancer UK
PCUK will assess each applicant based on their online
application. Grants will be awarded at PCUK's discretion.
Multiple applications, for more than one educational initiative,
submitted by the same applicant will be considered by PCUK.
However, PCUK will bear in mind any previous successful
applications when making assessments.
PCUK aims to respond to applicants with a successful or
unsuccessful decision within three weeks of receiving the

official statement of acknowledgement of the bursary to present to
the institution/organisation hosting the educational
If the applicant is successful, PCUK will pay the agreed bursary
directly, and in full, to the organisation/institution hosting the
educational initiative, upon receipt of an invoice from the
PCUK reserves the right to make reasonable changes to these
terms and conditions from time to time, both before and after an
applicant receives the bursary.
As there are a limited number of bursaries available, PCUK
reserves the right to offer applicants a partial bursary if this is
deemed appropriate. An example of this may be an application for a
urology (two day) course, for which prostate cancer/disease is only
addressed on the first day.
