Gary Smith Trophy

Golfers raise over £1500 in memory of friend

A group of Prison Officers from Durham and neighbouring prisons competed for the Gary Smith Trophy raising over £1500. 72 Players turned up in glorious sunshine to enjoy a days golf at Rockliffe Golf Club, to support a trophy that has been hotly contested since 2001 in memory of Gary Smith who sadly passed away from cancer at the age of 39. This years trophy was won  by Dickie Dodds of Ramside Golf Club.

David Redford, fellow participant said "The day was absolutely fantastic, Rockwood is a fantastic course and the food and staff were awesome. I am sure Gary would have been very proud to see how many people took part and that his wife Angeline and daughter Ellie were able to present the winning golfers with their prizes"
