"Over the last 4 years I have performed various roles for
Prostate Cancer UK, including Peer support, talking to the media,
delivering awareness talks to groups and campaigning at
Westminster.
I’ve found that one small act from a volunteer really does make
a huge difference. For example, I was thanked for attending
when I collected a cheque one day. I replied “it’s me that should
be thanking you and your team for making such an effort to raise
the money”. I discovered they had done fundraising for other
charities but no one had attended when invited, so it really does
make such a difference when it’s collected by someone with
firsthand experience of prostate cancer, who can also represent the
charity locally.
I have been proud to represent the charity, and it’s so good to
feel that you are also helping and supporting others."
