The Prostate Cancer Charity is pleased to announce the appointment of four new trustees to the Board of its fast-expanding organisation.

Mark Britnell is the global chairman for health in KPMG. Over the past two years he has worked with public and private sector organisations in 32 countries and brings a global perspective to the work of the charity. Prior to this, Mark has 20 years operational, strategic and policy experience at every level in the NHS. He was CEO of University Hospital Birmingham Foundation Trust, one of the most successful in England. He was also CEO of South Central Strategic Health Authority and Director General in the Department of Health. He sat on the NHS Management Board for three years and is passionate about improving prostate cancer services, especially raising awareness in disadvantaged and hard to reach groups of men.

North West-based Sharon, who has an extremely successful track record, brings links with top business leaders in a wide range of UK FTSE 350 and large private companies and is well placed to help develop the Charity's presence in the north of the country.

Bob Humphreys is the Director of Finance and Information at Oxfam GB which currently has an annual expenditure of approx £350m, with 4,700 staff working in over 60 countries. Until 2009 Bob was a partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers with more than 25 years' experience across a range of commercial and not-for-profit sectors both in the UK and internationally. A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Charities Sub-Group, he has been deeply involved in current discussions over the future of accounting by charities.

Awarded Financial News Top 100 influential Women in Finance, and The International Alliance for Women's 'Global Top 100 Women Making a Difference' in 2011, Vallely brings an exceptional mix of business management experience, creativity and charitable fundraising to the Board.

Professor Paul Forster, Chairman of The Prostate Cancer Charity said: "We are delighted that such a high calibre of new Trustees have agreed to join us and bring such a wealth of knowledge and expertise from a wide range of industries and professions. The Charity has increased its research and support services considerably in the last two years but we still face very challenging goals if men with prostate cancer are to receive the quality of information, treatment and support they deserve."

Owen Sharp, Chief Executive of the Prostate Cancer Charity said "Not only have we gained Trustees of such outstanding quality, but they also have personal motivations for supporting our vision of a world where lives are no longer limited by prostate cancer. As the new Chief Executive, I am very fortunate to have the backing of such a powerful Board working together with our partners in The Movember Foundation."
