Roving Mo supporters guide - Thanks to our Mo Bros and Mo Sistas – please spread the word about Movember

On this, the first day of Movember 2012, Prostate Cancer UK would like to thank its Mo Bros and Mo Sistas for their mo-vellous support so far. Prostate Cancer UK is the main beneficiary partner of Movember in the UK - in 2011 we received £15 million of funding from Movember.

By cultivating top lip topiary or supporting someone who is, you will help fund Prostate Cancer UK's vital work. We support men, provide vital information and fund research into causes and treatments.

Our celebrity Mo Bros and Mo Sistas have come out in force to kick off the most important month of the year and play their part in changing the face of men's health.

Comedian and Hollywood star Ricky Gervais is a Mo Bro this Movember. Ricky persuaded his comedy partner Karl Pilkington to have a digital rectal examination (DRE) for prostate cancer while being filmed on 'An Idiot Abroad 2'.

Ricky, who also recorded a radio advertisement to raise awareness of prostate cancer in 2005, said: "We can all joke about men's problems and bury our heads in the sand, but we all need to realise how serious a 'problem' can be.

"All of us guys need to be much more aware of our health. I'd encourage all men to find out more about the prostate."

Also joining the Mo brigade are father and son Max Beesley Junior and Senior, who are both growing Mos this year. The duo appeared on BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio Five Live this morning to talk about the support for the campaign and about prostate cancer.

Homeland star Damian Lewis will also be spending time grooming his upper lip this month. BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans is also growing a Mo and has discussed the challenge of nurturing upper lip hair on his show.

Also backing the Mo cause are Silk actor Neil Stuke and Magic 105.4 breakfast show presenter Neil Fox who are growing Mos. Scotland rugby player Chris Cusiter supported Mo Bros and talked about losing his father to prostate cancer on BBC Radio Scotland this morning.

The world of comedy is also nailing its colours to the Movember mast. David Schneider has recruited a whole team of comedian Mo-growers including Al Murray, Michael Moran, Gary Delaney, Tim Lott, Omid Djalili, Matt Kirshen and David Beresford. Jo Brand and Rebecca Front from BBC2's The Thick of It will be flying the Mo flag as Mo Sistas to the team.

TV presenter Julia Bradbury has also become a Mo Sista, tweeting her support with a photo sporting her own Mo.

The Mo message has even reached Westminster. Prime Minister David Cameron is also well aware of Movember after he was questioned about it on ITV1's The Agenda. Many MPs and MSPs are starting the month of Movember clean-shaven to raise awareness of men's health.

A huge and hairy thank you to you all for your support so far. Please keep spreading the word!
