Dollar couple Bob and Margaret Bonthrone have presented a cheque
for £1,175 to The Prostate Cancer Charity.
Bob and Margaret - who raised the sum by organising a coffee
morning in Dollar - presented the cheque to the Charity's Head of
Scotland Operations, Ann Ferguson, and Chairman, Professor Paul
Forster, at a special dinner marking the end of Prostate Cancer
Awareness Month in Glasgow (photo attached).
Head of Operations at The Prostate Cancer Charity in Scotland,
Ann Ferguson, said: "Prostate cancer is the most common cancer
diagnosed in men in Scotland. 2,700 Scots are diagnosed with
prostate cancer every year, and 19,000 are currently living with
the disease. In light of these figures every penny raised and every
effort made to increase awareness of the disease is to be
welcomed.
"Once again Bob and Margaret Bonthrone have done an excellent
job on both fronts, and I'm delighted to receive this fantastic sum
on behalf of The Prostate Cancer Charity.
"Time and again Bob and Margaret go over and above the call of
duty in raising funds for The Prostate Cancer Charity, and I know
this is greatly appreciated by everyone at the Charity and the many
families it supports across the country."
