Keyline Builders Merchants held the 'Best ball in town' last weekend in
support of their charity partner, The Prostate Cancer Charity, and
raised a phenomenal £10,040.
Almost 200 guests from across the North-East region, including
Keyline customers, suppliers and staff, arrived at Oulton Hall,
Devere Hotel on Friday night (18th November) to enjoy a three
course meal and an exciting evening of entertainment and
fundraising.
Being held for the second year, the night was a huge success
raising over £6,500 more than last year. The charity auction and
raffle generated the majority of the donations, with fantastic
prizes being donated from core suppliers including an Apple iPad2,
signed sporting memorabilia, weekend breaks, spa treatments and
concert tickets.
Amongst the guests was many a moustache, with plenty of men
supporting the global campaign Movember and continuing to raise
awareness of prostate cancer.
Through employee fundraising, the 14 Keyline branches throughout
the North East have already raised over £10,000 this year for The
Prostate Cancer Charity. Current fundraising activities at these
branches include staff capturing 'mug-shot' themed photographs of
men wearing their mo's with pride and Keyline vehicles promoting
the campaign through a charity text service - supporters can donate
£3 to Movember by texting 'buildamo' to '70003' with all proceeds
going to Movember.
Commenting on the evening, Allan Wright, Keyline Regional
Director, said:
"The opportunity for customers, suppliers and colleagues to come
together for one evening in support of our charity partner,
whilst raising a large amount of money and awareness, is absolutely
amazing and we could not have done it without the support of our
suppliers; Wavin, Hepworth, Osma, British Gypsum, Knauf Insulation,
Aco, Tensar, IG Lentils, Keylite, Stanton Bonna and Marshalls."
Allan concludes "My biggest challenge for next year is how the
branches in the North East can deliver even greater support, as The
Prostate Cancer Charity has truly become an integral part of the
Keyline business."
Earlier this year, Keyline scooped a National Business Charity
award for its partnership with The Prostate Cancer Charity. Since
November 2009, through multiple fundraising initiatives across the
Keyline network, the company; its staff, customers and suppliers
have now raised in excess of £320,000.
Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising at The Prostate Cancer
Charity said: "Keyline has done an amazing job raising money and
awareness since the start of the partnership. It is great to see
the North East supporting the 'Best
ball in town' raising over £10,000 - this is a clear sign of
their ongoing support, dedication and commitment to helping us
fight prostate cancer."
