The award identified Keyline Builders Merchants as the company
that made the biggest difference to beneficiaries through
involvement with a charity project. This achievement
demonstrates how we can not only work with companies to
deliver tangible business benefits, but also successfully raise
awareness of the most common cancer in men, amongst men and their
families.
Andrew Harrison, Keyline Managing Director commented,
"The recognition of this award
for Keyline identifies the hard work and belief delivered through
the Keyline business by our colleagues, their friends and
family. Through their
determination and the support we have received from our customers
and suppliers, we have been able to increase the awareness of the
health issues surrounding prostate cancer and generated funds for
our partner, The Prostate Cancer Charity."
Keyline, part of the Travis Perkins Group, entered into a two
year national partnership with The Prostate Cancer Charity in
November 2009. Initially the company pledged a target of £25,000
for 2010, having previously only ever raised £5,000 for charity.
However in the first year alone they raised in excess of
£145,000.
Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising at The Prostate Cancer
Charity said:
"We're over the moon that
Keyline's partnership has been recognised at these prestigious
awards. Keyline works with thousands of national contractors and
local tradesmen throughout the UK giving us an incredibly valuable
platform to reach more men to tell them about prostate cancer.
Their support for the cause has been phenomenal so we're delighted
that they have won!"
The strength behind the partnership has been the level of staff
engagement across every branch including the Charity committee
which was established at the beginning of the partnership. Staff
have been involved across all branches in fundraising activities;
triathlons, skydives, sponsored walks, fundraising days, the Monte
Carlo rally, climbing Ben Nevis, bike rides, sponsored diets,
sponsored runs, balls, football tournaments, sponsored swims, World
Cup sweepstakes, quizzes, poker nights and of course the growing of
mo's for Movember.
Andrew Harrison, concluded,
"It was only fitting that we
partnered with The Prostate Cancer Charity; it's a very relevant
health concern for our staff and customers. It's a serious issue,
and through our customer events and employee fundraising projects
we have successfully increased awareness of prostate cancer. And
above all we've managed to have fun in the process! It's heartening
to know that our people are so enthusiastic about this worthy
cause. Our 2011 target stands at £175,000 for The Prostrate Cancer
Charity - it's no mean feat, but if last year's passion for
fundraising is anything to go by, I don't doubt that together we'll
smash through it!"
