TeamPB - the joint team of The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care chosen as Virgin London Marathon's charity partner 2012- has smashed its £1 million fundraising target, thanks to their 800-strong team of runners. 

A special supplement dedicated to prostate cancer, which appeared in The Times on Wednesday 26 October, has helped to raise awareness of the disease.

The Prostate Cancer Charity comments on the launch of new drug, abiraterone, which has now been licensed for use in the UK, and can be prescribed by doctors to help extend the lives of men with advanced prostate cancer, which has stopped responding to existing treatments, by an average of four months.

For the first time, jockeys saddling up in the Betfair-sponsored King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes - the highlight of the Betfair Weekend at Ascot on 22-24 July - will wear white armbands in support of The Prostate Cancer Charity.
