A host of Scottish rugby internationals were present at The
Prostate Cancer Charity's inaugural dinner in Scotland to mark the
end of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month 2011.
Gavin Hastings OBE, John Rutherford, Keith Robertson, Derek
Stark, Peter Lillington and Fergus Wallace, joined fellow
international turned broadcaster John Beattie, who was guest
speaker at the event, held in Glasgow's Grand Central Hotel on 14
April.
Scotland captain Chris Cusiter - whose father Stan died of
prostate cancer in July 2010 after a six year battle with the
disease - also attended the dinner with his family.
The event was hosted by Scottish comic, Raymond Mearns.
Ann Ferguson, Head of Operations at The Prostate Cancer Charity
Scotland, said: "We were delighted to host our first Prostate
Cancer Awareness Month dinner in Scotland. We wanted to say a big
thank you to everyone for their support so far, from our corporate
partners to MPs, MSPs and our fantastic volunteers and support
group members. It feels as though the Charity has truly arrived in
Scotland, where prostate cancer is the most common cancer in
men.
"We intend to continue working to keep up the momentum and
provide the very best support we can to more and more men and their
families affected by prostate cancer in Scotland."
