Royal Mail Group joins forces with Prostate Cancer UK

Prostate Cancer UK has been selected as Royal Mail's Charity of the Year after more than 36,000 employees selected the charity in a staff vote. 

Royal Mail and colleagues hope to raise at least £2 million over two years for the charity and fund up to 50 specialist prostate cancer nurses. Nurses will be based at the heart of communities, helping over 44,000 more men.

The partnership will run from June 2012 to 2014. Employees will raise the funds through a series of fundraising initiatives and events and Royal Mail will match their efforts penny for penny up to a million pounds. 

Moya Greene, Chief Executive of Royal Mail, said: "Royal Mail is delighted to be supporting Prostate Cancer UK as our new Charity of the Year. Our goal is to raise as much as possible for this worthy cause. "

Sporting challenge events for Royal Mail employees

We have put together a calendar of sporting challenges around the country including running and cycling events, abseils, walks and rugby festivals for Royal Mail employees.

Free spaces are reserved for Royal Mail employees on popular events.

Match giving and fundraising grants

Royal Mail will match the funds you raise through sponsorship penny for penny through matchfunding and there are also grants available to help cover the cost of entrance fees.

Match giving

Under the Charity of the Year scheme, every member of staff employed by Royal Mail Group can apply for penny for penny matched giving, up to a total limit of £2,500 per person every year for funds raised for Prostate Cancer UK.

The funding year runs from July 2012 to June 2013.

Fundraising grants

Royal Mail Group employees can apply for a grant of up to £200 once every funding year to help cover the costs of organising a fundraising activity.

This grant is only available if you have already applied and been accepted for one of Royal Mail's matched giving schemes for the same fundraising event.
